A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future away from worry.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: happy, diverse, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Annually, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
