Beloved Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
US entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic television series such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles on Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his family said in a statement.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Career on Screen
His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, depicting a host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous popular shows, like:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- House
His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Beyond the Screen
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted on social media.
The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
