While Michel Illouz gradually progressed through the crowds beneath the cypress trees and palm trees at the graveyard in Ra'anana, a urban center located about 21 km north of Tel Aviv, he expressed gratitude to countless visitors as possible.

He addressed his son. "Beloved Guy," he expressed, using a term of endearment, "it's difficult for me to envision the days ahead without you. They took you from me – they ended your life – they kidnapped me and stole my identity and murdered my soul and feelings."

"There's a void within me since that pointless violence by those malicious militants when they seized you and commanded you to turn around, and then just discharged two needless bullets into your posterior."

"Thus I stood this morning, driving to Abu Kabir forensic institute to verify your remains and part ways. They unveiled the shroud, and the first thing I observed was that familiar expression, that positive outlook, that serenity and grace that so characterized you."

"I made contact, tried to detect your scent, tenderly touched all areas in your body. I saw you, I was by myself with you, and yes, I felt with total assurance that it was you. Yes, I know, Guy-shuk, that you've rejoined our family. You've come back to your relatives' care, to all your close associates, and to the millions of citizens whose emotions your story touched."

Parental Resilience

During the initial segment of the ceremony, Illouz had dedicated all his efforts on consoling his smaller offspring. He gently touched the locks of his girls, held his son, kissed his neck and gathered his emotions for them. But then his emotions surfaced.

"I will yearn for so much traveling with you through this country, sensing your presence, listening to your compositions, relaxing in mountainous areas and activating the stove to prepare the beverage the way only you knew how – 'Dad, do you see the coffee bubbles? You have to boil it gently, let the foam rise, then boil it again. Agitate the liquid with rotating movements' – and then your grin while tasting the beverage and your delight in every single drop."

"Prior to my departure Abu Kabir today, I kept my promise. I looked at you, breathed you in one last time, and yes, I planted a kiss on the brow. I was could perceive your handsomeness even in the state in which you were repatriated."
